6.4 - Landing Over an Obstacle

Lesson Objective
During this lesson, the learner will land a glider and get it stopped using as little runway as possible after clearing an obstacle in the flight path.
Regulatory Requirement
Pre-Solo pilot (Student Pilot and Transition Pilots): 14 CFR 61.87(i)(16)(Landings, including normal and crosswind)
Private Pilot Test Candidate: 14 CFR 61.107(b)(6)(iv) (Launches and landings)

Completion Standard
The lesson is complete when the learner can consistently perform a landing and get the glider stopped within a designated distance after clearing a simulated obstacle on final, while maintaining the specified airspeed within +10/-5 knots.
