Lesson Objective

During this lesson, the learner will make small adjustments to the airbrakes during the hold off to fine-tune the touchdown and stop points.

Pre-Solo pilot (Student Pilot and Transition Pilots): 14 CFR 61.87(i)(16)(Landings, including normal and crosswind)
Private Pilot Test Candidate: 14 CFR 61.107(b)(6)(iv)(Launches and landings)

Content

Pay attention to flying a precise pattern.
Approach the aim point with small adjustments to the airbrake setting as necessary
After touchdown, use airbrakes and wheel brakes as necessary to stop the glider ant the designated stop point.

Completion Standard

The lesson is complete when the learner can consistently perform a smooth landing touching down within a designated landing area within 5 feet of the centerline, and stopping within 200 feet but short of a designated point.
