Lesson Objective
During this lesson, the learner will learn how to fly the pattern to compensate for a crosswind
Regulatory Requirement
Pre-Solo pilot (Student Pilot and Transition Pilots): 14 CFR 61.87(i)(16) Flight at traffic pattern altitudes... and (16) Landings, including normal and crosswind.
Private Pilot Test Candidate: 14 CFR 61.107(b)(6)(iv) Launches and landings.

- Determine the different types of crosswind: quartering headwind, crosswind, quartering tailwind.
- Modification of pattern due to crosswind
- Choosing the proper runway at multiple-runway airports
Completion Standard
The learner will recognize and compensate for a crosswind in the pattern, maintaining the desired airspeed within +10/-5 knots.
