4.7 - Airbrakes in Flight

Lesson Objective

During this lesson, the learner will operate the airbrakes, and to demonstrate the effect that the airbrakes have on attitude.

Content

• Pitch changes when airbrakes are opened and closed 
• airspeed must remain constant when opening and closing the airbrakes

Note

• The term airbrakes and spoilers are used interchangeably, depending on the resource. 

Completion Standard

The learner will be able to maintain the specified airspeed within +10/-5 knots while transitioning between different airbrake settings.
