Lesson Objective

During this lesson, the learner will become familiar with minimum controllable airspeed (MCA)

Private Pilot Test Candidate: 14 CFR 61.107(b)(6)(ix)

Content

• Clear the area, 
• trim to fly just above the stall speed
• lower the nose if any buffeting or if the controls lose effectiveness
• use small bank angles

Completion Standard

The learner will be able to fly at the minimum controllable airspeed appropriate to the specified bank angle, adjusting the pitch attitude as necessary to prevent a stall.  Hold heading of 10 degrees and maintain bank angle within 10 degrees when in turning flight.
