5.1 - Landing Checklist

Lesson Objective

During this lesson, the learner will memorize the pre-landing checklist and practice performing it before each landing. 

Regulatory Requirement

Pre-Solo pilot (Student Pilot and Transition Pilots):

• 14 CFR 61.87(i)(1) Proper flight preparation procedures(includes cockpit management and utilizing proper mnemonics like FUSTALL before entering the pattern).

Private Pilot Test Candidate: 

• 14 CFR 61.105(b)(7) Safe and efficient operation of aircraft (standardized use of checklists).
• 14 CFR 61.107(b)(6)(iv) Launches and landings (specifically evaluated as part of the traffic pattern entry duties).

• FUSTALL
• RUFSTALL

Completion Standard

The learner will have memorized the standard checklist and use it before every landing, making sure to start it early enough in the pattern as to not become a distraction during the pattern.
